The evergreen Compass 28 was one of Australia's most successful production yachts of all time with at least 300 units produced between 1970 and 1981."Cia-Maria" is an original example with a fine history including two major ocean voyages from Sydney to Papua Guinea and Sydney to New Zealand in the early 80's by her then intrepid owner. She was "discovered" being up for sale in 2000 by her current owner who remembered her from his youth when he used to crew aboard her and has been a much loved and fond vessel throughout his life. Ill health however has forced her back on the market.The interior is roomy for a boat of this size with a V-Berth forward and wet locker and enclosed head. The saloon / galley is functional with sink and metho stove and aft lies two 1/4 berths all upholstered in neutral tones and varnished timbers in good condition. She sports a Vetus 10 HP engine with shaft drive and 3 blade fixed prop. On deck she carries a single spreader alloy masthead rig with main and genoa on furler, there is a dodger over the companionway and a tiller steer autohelm.Inside she presents well but outside she does need some love.
