Seller's Description
Cruz Control, a Santa Cruz 52 launched in 1998 presents a rare opportunity not only in Australia but globally. Listed exclusively for sale with YOTI, Cruz Control is the only Santa Cruz 52 to have ever been constructed utilizing a composite carbon core. This further supports Bill Lee's ethos of creating ultra-light high performance vessels which are equally suited to competitive blue water events, speedy passage making and high capacity comfortable cruising. Cruz Control was originally commissioned by an Australian owner who personally oversaw her construction and selected the best of the best in options and features. She competed and won her division in the 2000 Sydney to Hobart paying homage to the designs roots which are deeply embedded in the Trans Pac yacht race - of which two SC52's are already registered for the 2015 event. She was passed on to equally attentive owners in 2012 who have significantly added to the yachts sail wardrobe and continue to maintain the yacht to the highest standards. Cruz Control boasts a carbon mast, boom and spinnaker pole plus features a deck mounted retractable sprit. The rod rigging was replaced in 2008. The aforementioned sail wardrobe includes a near new cruising main (2014 - used once), a lightly used carbon ocean racing main (Oct 2012), additional mainsail, five headsails and five spinnakers. For heavy conditions the set up offers an inner forestay, check stays and staysail plus a collision bulkhead neatly sealed forward of the main cabin. Below decks the Santa Cruz interior offers almost unparalleled features and comfort in such a speedy yacht. The large owner's cabin is forward with offset settee, loads of storage lockers and private entry into the main head with separate shower stall. A large saloon offers copious seating plus up to four sea berths with lee cloths. A full featured sea kindly galley lies to port opposite the navigation station with full instrumentation plus an additional and very handy storage and seating area sits behind the navigator. Lying aft to starboard is a large double cabin and finally to port is a second head and access to a storage locker / spare cabin / utility room with optional washing machine or pipe bunk set up with very easy access to the water maker, steering gear, propeller viewing port and auto-pilot. For ease of handling the yacht offers auto-pilot and an electric halyard winch operable from the helm. A sleek and practical dodger protects the large and user friendly cockpit with the addition of a bimini with infill and side clears for ultimate protection. The Yanmar 75Hp engine was replaced in 2007, the generator in 2008 and the vessels A/C unit was fitted new in 2005. Slipped late 2014, this Santa Cruz 52 is now awaiting her next owner.
